If I remember correctly a felt washer was used. An O-ring will also work.

They should be reamed to size with an expandable reamer long enough to do both bushings at the same time, or with a reamer that pilots in one bushing while reaming the other. If you ream each bushing to size independently, the bores probably won't be aligned. The only way you'll be able to push the kinkpin all the way through is to ream one or both bushings way oversize, which defeats the purpose of fitting new ones. -- Chip Old 1948 M.G.
