1948 MG TC # 5135 For Sale This TC , with matching number engine XPAG # 5712 was purchased August 1967, having not been driven since 1963, and is original thruout with the exception it has a Scintilla Vertex magneto. It was originally cream, but had been painted black. It was disassembled and garaged until restoration began in 1990. The chassis, running gear and drums were sand blasted, primed and painted 2 component gloss black. A number of items were purchased from Moss at this time, but restoration stopped, and didn't begin again until 1999. A total restoration began with a complete engine rebuild, including having the starter, generator, carburators (Joe Curto) and magneto all professionally rebuilt. All brass parts are polished and the engine painted the green color it was originally. The radiator was cleaned and fuel tank cleaned and lined. The chassis was totally rebuilt with new springs, shocks (rebuilt), and the brakes were relined and all new rubber throughout. The master cylinder is to be rebuilt, and all the old (spring wrapped) brake lines are clean and polished. The gas lines are new. All metal parts on the car, including body parts, were sand/bead blasted and primed with 2 component primer. All new wood, as needed, has been sealed and installed except for the pieces inside the left and right quarter panels. These 2 panels (Moss) replace the originals who were "lacy" inside the running boards, and have not been installed. The body parts will require little work except sanding and painting. Everything to complete the restoration, including Stayfast top, tonneau cover, carpet set, green - panel and seat kits and car cover are included. All the small chrome parts are new, including the knockoff hubs, the only chrome to be done are the lights, grill shell and the windshield. The wheels (6) have 3 coats of the proper (greenish) silver finish. This has been a thorough restoration so far, I have all receipts for everything spent.and all the old parts that have been replaced. The situation requires me to pass this labor of love onto another believer. I have receipts of $13,000, and am offering her to the group (TABC's Forever) for $11,000. The car is located in TN.
