8" reflector for headlights
I'm searching two 8" reflectors for the headlights.
I'm converting the headlights of my TC back from modern sealed headlights to
the original 8" cat eyes. I have the cat eyes meanwhile, but now I'm in need
of the 8" reflectors. Has anyone spares or does anyone know a good source
for 8" reflectors?
Do I need anything else, e.g. to mount the bulbs?
Thanks

Peter
You'll need three items
a.. Reflectors - these 8" reflectors are common to various British cars of the period, and still not too hard to find. Try Mike Kennedy +44 121 236 4947, or Keith Ardley Tel/fax +44 1353 778 493, or Chris Clark on +44 1773 550485. Just ask for 8" Lucas reflectors.
b.. Clamps - these go around the small cylinder fitted to the centre of the reflector and clamp the lamp-holder in place. They also have an earth wire which runs to the earthing point inside the base of the bowl. You'll need the clamps, but you will probably make new earth wires. Whoever supplies the reflectors should also be able to supply the clamps.
c.. Lamp-holders - you can buy these new from Keith Ardley. He also does re-silvering.
[Of course you'll also need the lamps and the correct rims.]

Re: 8" reflector for headlights
As I understand it, aftermarket reflectors to fit halogen bulbs into
a Model T will work. Contact a parts supplier for a Model A Ford.
Not positive but believe you have to do a very minor modification to
make it fit such as cutting a notch or something. Several others on
our list have done this so may elaborate. I have not done it myself.

Peter,
Saw a used 8" reflector on E-bay yesterday. Was pretty
cheap. Check it out.

Re: 8" reflector for headlights
Peter, I just talked to Ron Simon of this group about the reflectors in his TC. He said they are either Model A or Model B Ford sized reflectors and are made to use halogen bulbs. He got them from Mike Goodman also from this list oldmgdoc@aol.com and is located in the Los Angeles area of California. If you get them from Mike he will have the notch cut to fit in the TC headlights. A web search for Model A Ford parts turned up many hits. As I mentioned before, I do not have them on my TC (yet) so have no suggested suppliers other than Mike (and he deals with MGs rather than Fords). I am not sure of the wattages Ron has on his TC but he said when they are on, he experiences a slight discharge on the ampmeter while on the highway. Re: 8" reflector for headlights
I just had a clarification on the the halogen headlamp reflectors I
mentioned here before. While they are replacement reflectors for a
Ford, they may NOT be for the Model A or Model B Ford as I stated.
Sorry for the misinformation.
Mike Goodman - oldmgdoc@aol.com - located in the Los Angeles,
California area is the person to contact to get the proper reflectors
that are notched and ready to install in the 8" TC headlamps.

Re: 8" reflector for headlights
Hi all,
Some time ago I asked for help about converting the headlight of my TC back to 8" cat-eye. With the help of Michael Card, David Irwin, David Edgar, Bob Johnson and Mike Goodman I today installed a solution that perfectly fits my needs. It's a compromise between originality and German law. If you are interested in Bob's (very original) and my solution you can see the pictures and some explanation on http://www.mg-tc.de/headlight/
Thanks to all and best regards
