Virus problems

Post by Bruce J. Obbink » Sat Apr 20, 2002 11:09 am

To all members In the past few days I have had nearly 10 incidents of virus infections from members of the TABC list. In today's technology there is hardly an excuse for anyone to pass along a virus. For those of you who are seasoned computer chaps you know full well that you MUST keep your virus protection system up to date. For those of you who are new to the Internet world, just because you had a Norton or McAffee installed when you bought your computer doesn't mean you have complete protection for life. You must subscribe to an up-date service. There is no excuse for individuals working on such a large address file as TABC not to have the most up-to-date and proven system you can buy .If you are not certain what it is you have that is supposed to be catching viruses as they come across your screen I suggest you immediately consult a computer technician. I did send a note that I wanted off the list because of this virus issue. Terry Sanders cautioned me not to be too hasty. He probably is right but I have had my share of virus attacks and if they ever do get through I guarantee you will not forget the experience. Not all viruses come from people you don't know. My worse infection came from someone I know very well and thought they had full protection. It was the last person I thought would send along a virus. That virus attacked the Norton system and ran up over 1,500 e-mails before I figured out what had happened. Thank goodness nothing got out of my computer. My message here is PLEASE become very familiar with your virus protection system and make certain it is scanning all incoming and outgoing messages and is UP TO DATE. Bruce
