Hi I have a pair of Girling shocks that I thought was for a TC. However the distance between the mounting bolt centers is 2 1/2". I think it should be about 4 1/4". Could these shocks be from a early TD and not the TC? Thanks Dennis 37 TA 38 VA

Dennis, I remember a pair of the same dampers for sale on e-Bay a few months back. These were the rear shocks for the Y-Types, 2.5" centers between the mounting holes. My best, Ben Cordsen, TC 4260

Hello all, I have been out of town for about ten days and am now looking at hundreds of emails...would the folks who contacted me off list please try again in case I delete by accident. I have a full set of TA shocks for sale and a set of TC shocks also. The TA ones are new from the UK and the TC ones were rebuilt. TA ones have original arms and links and the TC ones have arms only. I am in the process of refurnishing the shock absorbers on my TC. Following the advice of Van Parys and Irwin from the MG-TABC web site, I have dismantled all the main parts, but have run into the following problems. Some of the spring clips holding the two pistons together have broken in place. Does anyone know a source to replace these spring clips? I removed the flat steel spring which holds the valve on the face of the piston and removed this valve. These parts were dirty and it was neccesary to brush them with a small wire brush to remove the residue. I found a copy of an article which has a diagram of this assembly and I note that there are a series of discs behind the purferrated face of the piston. From the diagram it appears that this assembly should be removable out of the face of the piston. I wanted to remove all these parts and clean them, but they don't want to move. Does anyone know how to take them apart? Reid Lally TC 7296

I am contemplating the rebuild of the TC's shocks this winter and after reading the rebuild article in the archives I would like to know if anyone has purchased shaft seals of late and if so where did you get them and the part numbers. If I remember correctly there was some discussion on the proper oil to use in these and would like to hear about that also.
