Re: Digest Number 746
Hi, All,
Regarding all the recent mail on handling has made me wonder am
I easily pleased?
At the moment I am running 16" wheels on the rear and19" on the front.
Hartford friction dampers on the front and a telescopic conversion on the
rear. Apart from being a bit stiff on the rear and under steering it seems
OK. Any suggestions to curing the understeer wold be welcome or do they all.
Regards,
Ron Benson TB or not
TB.

Bob,
By "understeer" I am assuming you mean the tendency of the car to wash out
the front end in a turn; to push, to go straight on.
This may be a function of the increased footprint of the 16" rear tires. You
can stiffen roll of the rear suspension (such as installing an anti-roll bar
on the rear axle) to make it oversteer/neutral steer, or go with wider tires
in the front.
Read "Making your car handle".
Best Regards,
Ray

Ron
I think you'll find the understeer goes away if you fit either all 19s or
all 16s.
My car was not happy with the mixture you now have.
