Hi Guys, I have seen a lot of posts about wiring recently. Have you guys considered Vintage Wiring in the Down Under? The dollar is super strong against the Aussie dollat just now, and they deliver in about a week. The harness I got for the TB is perfect, and the right colors. In addition, I had them add grounding for the headlights, a dual filament set-up for the headlights, and dual "D" lamps for the rear. All for about 190 bucks; custom made. I am somewhat unclear on the wiring connections to the ignition warning lamp
on my TC. Does the yellow wire from D on the voltage regulator go to the
center terminal, retained by a brass nut and the white wire from IG on the
ignition/light switch go to the side terminal retained by a small screw or is it
opposite this arrangement or does it matter? I can't really be sure looking at my
wiring diagram. Also, does the wire on the ground side of the fuel warning
light go to the gas tank sending unit and the wire on the bulb terminal go to
the fog lamp switch or have I got that backwards? Also, on the amp meter which
terminal is A and which is B? Neither of my units are marked that I can see.
I guess B is the one closet to the ignition switch when installed right side
up? Thank you in advance to whoever can add clarity to this wiring day from
hell.

It really does not matter. The light works on the principle that you have 12 volts running to it from the ignition and when the dynamo is up to speed, 12 volts from that side too. When this happens the light is unlit as you have 12 volts from each side. When the dynamo is running slow you have less than 12 volts from that side and the light is dim. When the dynamo is idle then you only have 12 volts from the ignition switch and the dynamo is the ground then so the light if fully lit. The ignition warning lamp does not care which way the current flows so hooking up the terminals either way is OK.>I am somewhat unclear on the wiring connections to the ignition warning lamp >on my TC. The ground side goes to the tank sending unit. I really don't know which is A or B either but if you turn the lights on and the amp meter shows a charge then you have it hooked up backwards. As complex as the job is to do, the new harness is far and away the best solution... . the reason you have already discovered. . .the former owners have cobbled things for a fix and thats the reason nothing matches the book. ... The harnesses may be purchased for far less than you would believe considering the safety factors and the labour to figure out what went where. It will still be a hard job but worth it.
. You can buy original type or improved with correct colour coding but vinyl instead of cloth coverings. With and without turn signals and the PVC version is about $250. . . We can make em cheaper only if we have an original (accurate) to follow. My husband laid them out on the floor and the colour coding makes destinations clear. A map if you will.
My husband had in mind to do our TC but it was planned for the next winter and he wasn't around to do it. He did several MGA's for friends and our TF. .

Very wise advice. Take all the hodge-podge out, buy the right harness and
use the diagram. If one has to, hire the work to be done. The last thing
anyone needs on a collector car is a wiring fire. It's worth every cent to

Wiring
I'm finally getting to the wiring and have a question. My fog light (the
proper one I believe) has a ground and a wire I can't see the color. In the wiring
diagram it shows #12 yellow/purple and #31 purple. My harness has the 12/31
wires. What goes to where. Thanks Bob TC 6198

The fog light should have only one wire, yellow/red(late)or blue
/red(early. Wires 12 & 31 are early horn wires. The body of the fog
light is the ground.

Wiring
Team,
Now that our National Meeting is over for another year I am getting the TC
ready for a bit of overseas touring in New Zealand next year in order to
attend their Nat-meet. One of the jobs on my list is the dashboard. Am
currently having a new one made to match the timber grain of my Mota-Lita
Steering Wheel. As part of the exercise I am going to clean up the wiring
behind it which got a little "frizzled" during a heavy rain-storm one day.
Can the collective wisdom of the list tell me if its possible to buy a new
wiring loom for the dash area only or does one have to replace the whole
thing?
