uprating brakes

Post by DAVID DARRELL » Tue Oct 30, 2001 3:00 pm

Has anyone in the group uprated the brakes of a T type such as front discs etc. I have a project at the moment that needs to improve the stopping power of a T in todays traffic so that anyone who is used to driving the modern box can have the same confidence of stopping. I personally have had no problem of stopping a T type but i need to get this sorted. Machine work on parts is no problem but they must be in current production relatively inexpensive and be able to be sourced in the uk. Many thanks David Darrell TA 0455/ 0749

David, First make sure brake and master cyliners are in fine working order. Next put on some soft brake linings. That should do wonders. If you need more stopping power add some Alfins or 240Z drums. You can then lay some rubber down if you stomp on the pedal. Of course for maximum braking you wouldn't want to skid the tires so your braking limit is more with the tires than the brakes then. Apologies to Badger but adding a brake booster is fairly easy on the TC...there is room to mount it where the battery ought to be but on the TA it might be a little more difficult....I have a "how to" around here some where.... Terry
