All EXU owners, please help me understand the location and use for the second fuse box found on some TC EXU' s below and to the right of the regular voltage regualtor-fuse box. Some of the early production runs of the EXU's in Januarary of 1949, (numbers around 7538), seem to lack this second fuse box. Thank you, rtabs, MG TC EXU # 7538

Re: TC EXU's second fuse box
The fuse was to protect the twin windtone horns. As far as I know, all EXU TCs had this additional horn fuse. My TC-8654 EXU has the additional fuse. Re: TC EXU's second fuse box
My EXU, 7387, is the earliest one that I know of and it does not have a
horn fuse block nor any holes where it should go. I took some pictures
of the fuse block location on the EXU that George Butterfield owned but
it was a very late one - after 10000. It was a very original car. I've
lost track of it. His widow moved out of town shortly after he passed
away and later sold the car.
I know that my car's wiring is far from original. It had a Ford starter
solonoid on it when I got it! But it should still have the holes for
mounting the fuse block even if it were removed. Or is it possible that
the earlier cars had the fuse block in a different location?
Regards,
Charles Hill

And as a side comment on the dual windtone horns on EXU-TCs, these horns are NOT the same as the ones used on MGTDs. The EXU ones have a perfectly round edge rim where the noise comes out, while the TDs, TFs, etc, have an oblong rim. Bob
