Dear Groupies: MGTC 5288 has about 1.5 mm of vertical clearance between the Axle beam eye and the steering knuckles. In the TC manual this clearance should not exceed .004" (.10 mm.) To fix it I need to know if the thrust washers come in different widths, or do the bushes provide a "new" bearing surface. The bushes themselves seem new, without any detectable play. I think this was put together 30 years ago incorrectly, either with wrong thrust washers, or wrong bushes. How horrible would it be not to fix it?
