drive shaft tunnel

Post by David and Joyce Edgar » Wed May 16, 2001 6:10 pm

I have a friend who dispite several suggestions has not joined our list. Maybe someday he will. He asked me a question about my driveshaft tunnel and since my TC is together and I have no access to measure, I was hoping someone who has their tunnel out can measure. He needs the dimentions of the rectangular hole located on the top and front that the shift linkage drops into. A guesstimate of the radius at the corners would be nice too. I already answered his question about what covers it, so don't need that. I did however tell him that since we live in California it should be chromed to match the undersides of the fenders. When the guy >painting my car took it apart, he said it looked like someone had enlarged >that for no apparent reason. Do you know how large the hole is supposed to be >and what covers it if anything?

Benny,

I'm not sure what the problem is so not sure what information you need. I've take two pictures of my tunnel and they are on the blog of today, 6th October.

If you tell me what your problem with the tunnel is I will help more. If you want to make a new tunnel and need the dimensions for that I'll do some measuring. However if you are repairing then I'd not copy another tunnel's holes but drill new ones to fit the existing floor screws.

Moss Europe are showing a prop-shaft cover at 68 so not that expensive for a new one. FTFU will probably be cheaper.

Thanks,
