torque

Post by JTPAKI@aol.com » Sat Jan 13, 2001 10:00 am

I am installing my head on the XPAG after valve work. I have the sequence for the head nut tightening but cant find the numbers. Can someone tell me initial (cold) torque and then the hot retorque. Joe Potter Eugene, Oregon USA http://hometown.aol.com/jtpaki/index.html

Hi, my manual quotes 600 in-lbs or 50 ft-lbs. There is no mention about re-torquing when hot and I have never done this on numerous successful head replacements. Regards, Hugh Pite

Joe: Both cold and hot are the same. forty two lbs. I have always used this number (40 years). Works well. I suggest that you give both sides of the gasket a couple of coats of silver or aluminum spray enamel. Never a leak!! Skip Kelsey....................................
