niece hits a deer with her ninja

Post by libertyeagle » Fri Jun 17, 2016 11:14 pm

Found out my niece hit a deer with her Ninja last night or early this morning, she is peeled like a potato (no gear except Helmet) and is already ordering parts to rebuild her bike when she can ride again. Proud of her for being a tough little $-hit... She is flying back tonight from Arkansas. Now the Last year or two I have been more and more into wearing a bit more sensible gear, praying she will actually wear more protection. Please consider proper riding gear... and be careful out there. Michael

I've said it many times, when you are sliding across the rocks, gravel or pavement, $1000 for the best jacket (or boots/pants/gloves/helmet) seems really cheap. I trust she will heal quickly and with a wiser perspective. I was maybe a half second from eating a black cow on Hwy 95 outside Blanding, UT last Friday night.  I managed to throw the bike sideways and just skate between three others.  I was very appreciative for the big driving lights that gave me that half second extra, I might never have cleaned the goo out of my expensive riding gear... Years ago I told of a patient my helo EMS crew and I picked up...the guy killed a cow with his Harley.Yeah, nothing good happens after midnight, and true to nature, it was somethin like zero dark one thirty in the morning. He was positive for amphetamines, cannabis and alcohol; none of impaired his judgement or motor skills; however, it did enhance his motor-mouth volume, and made it intuitively obvious which patient we were there to assist by the volumes of vocal discontent we endured after entering the ER. My medics took great delight in sedating the belligerent and combative (pitiful) creature, which immediately eliminated the braying, yelling, and cursing, and ended all resistance of removing his expensive, heavily embroidered HD jacket with scissors. He at least had on some protective clothing, albeit, it was more of a HD billboard than safety gear. shrug. I still wonder if he followed his mothers instructions, "Wear clean underwear, you never know if you are going to end up in the hospital."It may not have mattered; he was pretty broken up Internally, and the final outcome was far from certain. m.
