My first post was in Sept., 1998, but I may have been a lurker before that. I wonder how many old-timers are still here? I know Bogdan still surfaces every-so-often. The group certainly isn't as active as it once was in terms of post counts. I guess that's because of all the other KLR sites that sprung up since then. There are other KLR lists that boast being the original or the best etc etc but none can compare to what we have created almost twenty years ago. Lots of things have happened since the start of this list and lots of memories have been created. You can read about our earliest KLR days on Xmission.com at: ftp://ftp.xmission.com/pub/lists/klr650/archive/ and the very first posts from 1998 here: ftp://ftp.xmission.com/pub/lists/klr650/archive/klr650.9802 Thanks to all our great members, yes it has been a heck of a ride. Funny is I belong to 3 or 4 other KLR forums and the questions the new guys are asking were the same ones we were asking back then and even before when Kurt and Fred were keeping this site happening. And the old names from back in the day. The rememberance of stopping by and meeting Fred in '04 , I think, Also at a remote station getting gas and running into two KLR riders headed for Moab for the annual get to gether. Which I never did get to do. At that time I was returning to Louisiana from a trip to Washington and just roaming the roads more are less on my '02 BMW R1150GS. Been a heck of a rideOn Nov 1, 2015, at 3:50 PM, Eddie eddie@... [DSN_KLR650] DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com> wrote:

nklr sort of going back
My KLR had maybe 12 miles when I got it close to 14,000 now . Like my old Yamaha outboard on my boat I have never touched it.I'm a plumber not a engine guy , I figured out as I aged if it ain't broke don't fix it now that I'm retired I'm gonna start doing a few things like upgrade brakes, shock and a few other safety features But I'm gonna leave engine alone. I messed up a couple of Hondas in my younger days messing with them but this ole KLR will take me to Alaska if I wanted to go .As for this site I think I found it about the same time as I got my bike and I love reading about others adventures. I messed up my back in my 30s lifting heavy drain cleaning equip and snatching sewer cables so I can ride maybe 250 miles a day but have to get off and stretch , that's reason I haven't done a cross country , from my home it's up in smokey mts and down along Al fla coast have been my LONG rides. Big grin that's a short day trip for a lot of you guys but going from a Honda 250 duel in my 30s to KLR when I turned 52 was best move I ever made. You guys talking about OLD days got me remembering and smiling in my dreams
