Hey Y'all
I was recently told, (SCOLDED) Saying I Greatly misrepresented myself. ( as being RICH)
I For years, I often Tell new people I meet, I'm a "Jed Clampitt" type.
IF the others don't quickly start saying something, I explain, I prefer being a Simple person, who would greatly prefers wearing Work clothes, even with a Patch, rather than a Suit & Tie. (And I do have a few suits & a Tux in the Closet, that I DREAD have to wear at times.)
While I can enjoy FINE Dining & Hotels, I would rather have PB&J Sandwich with a Friend, (& pb&j is not on my top 10 list) Than a $75. steak at a Business meeting, where I have to DRESS TO IMPRESS.
(Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy, Dressing up a bit at times, (NO TIE, LOL) Wearing a Full length Overcoat, Cashmere Wool OR Silk Scarf during the Cooler months, With Friends etc, AT LIMITED TIMES.
I would Rather Sleep on the Floor with 2 sheets at a Friends house, Or in a tent, then Sleep alone in a $200. a night hotel. (YA the beds & Towels are NICE!!! But Just not really me.
My Friends Include WEALTHY to Homeless (Or close to it) I Do NOT rate my respect level By $$$ OR IQ, OR THEIR JOB.
Threw the years, Many of the FINEST people I have been Honored to know, I think were Below "Poverty Level" Income.
As a Child (5-6?) I PROUDLY remember, walking Riding the bus, then Walking the Downtown City Streets Of Flint Michigan, with My Grandfather. (a Fairly poor Farmer / Hillbilly man.)
He SMILED and Shook hands with with So many people, that seemed to know him, Some seemed Rich with Suits & Briefcases, Others Seemed almost Homeless. (& And may have been)
1 Man spotted him and YELLED threw the S.S. Kresge Store. (Yelling inside NOT done in those days)
HEY! John, Phil, (made up names??) IT'S PASTOR WARD, HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK, PASTOR WARD IS BACK!
So When I say I'm kind of a Jed Clampitt Or Tim Taylor type, I'm no way talking about their Money etc etc, But their FRIENDLY OPEN, CARING, RESPECTFUL OF ALL, PERSONALITY.
Well at least I strive to be like my 2 Heros, My GrandFather's & Jed Clampitt.
