Hey Y'all

I have wondered for a while why we (this group) does not have a FB page.

Today I was sent (shared with) a Picture of a few KLR's from,.... "Kawasaki KLR650 owners group" With close to 2000 members. 

When I scanned threw about 300 members, I did not, recognize any names.

Any one from here, on there?

(PS. If so, it's ok, I like the OLD song,....... I HAVE FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES.)

So far! In the history of hunting the problem! 

1= Did as you said about cutting a 1/2 inch off each end of the plug wire and making sure the cap and resistor were clean. Took apart the gas cap vent system and cleaned,

2- Pulled all connections apart under the headlight, cleaned with electrical cleaner , blew dry and put a coat of dileletric grease on. Made sure they were securely plugged back up. 

3- Got an 07 coil off ebay and installed. Pulling that apart and redoing the ends also. Also at this time, pulled all connects apart and cleaned, greased and put back together. Found ECU ground connect really corroded and had to cut it off. Put new connector on and redid connect to frame ground. 

  Also pulled the starter button apart and cleaned along with the engine stop switch. 

  Also did the .22 cent mod on this carb I've had on for over a year off an 09. 

  Pulled the throttle assy apart and cleaned and grease.  Installed new enricherner part that always breaks when your not careful. Mine had been broken for over 10 year. Thanks  Fred . 

  The T mod had been done 14 years ago and all good and clean. 

4- Got an 07 ECU off Ebay Salvage yard, Installed that. At the same time , Pull exhaust system off and changed gaskets.

       What NOT TO DO!!!!!!!! Bought some shiny black paint rated for 900 degrees for brake capilars. Painted pipe and muffler. The paint started smoking right away on the lift and deposited the paint , well burnt , on my lift table. ;-( . 

5- Installed a seperate ground from the battery to the frame as the main batt ground goes through the engine mounts. Use to do this when building choppers in a past life 40 to 50 years ago.  ha ha ha ha . 

What we have at present >>> Much improved Over all preformence .... But, still, a very slight surge in the 4 to 5 k rpm range. Next is the KLX kit  

And, If you have reason to pull the cover off to check adjustment of valves, the exhaust cam advancement of one tooth really does make a difference in torque output in the 2.5 to 5 K rpm range. I did this a few months back when having to change all 4 shims to get the valves right. 

Most of my riding is in the 3 to 4 K range on the little back roads of gravel and beat up blacktop here in South Louisiana
