I am in Big Bend National Park helping a friend in the annual Chili Cookoff in Terlingua....and had my first flat here after numerous trips out here. I picked up a thorn (go figure here) in the front in my Mefo....riding around the Chili Campground at night at 5 mph. I was served numerous beers (I know bad idea riding under the influence....but at 5 mph). I thought to myself "Man this thing is handling badly." Ever try riding at night....fueled by beer....on gravel....with little hills....with a flat on front? Nobody got hurt (heh). And....did I use my torque wrench in my truck to tighten the brake caliper bolts when I had to remove the caliper to get the wheel back on? No....and I lost one the next day. After mulling it around overnight....and using investigating mind afterthought. I had an idea which little road that had a downhill part where I might have used the front brake more heavily. Found the bolt. Life is normal....but....Fred, I need a new Dunlop 606 for the front as the Mefo is worn pretty good and I knew might be a problem riding in the Land of Thorns. For that reason, I didn't take the Mavericks gravel road shortcut back from Santa Elena Canyon a couple days ago. Rev, you and the Bent Nail Club would be proud of me for not pinching the tube on the tire change ( not for riding at night under the influence on gravel). Ahh.... Life is good, on to cook Chili today. Fred I will call next week to put my order in for the new 606.
