June 2008: I rode my '07 KLR into, Aguila, AZ, on the way back to San Diego from North Dakota/Nicaragua (long story, ask Martin Earl) and peering into a closed motel office window. A guy walked up and asked if I needed a full motel room or just some place to sleep for the night. I was ride weary exhausted and just needed to fall asleep and get going in the morning. He said he could help with that and, he promised, "No banditos". I followed him to his nearby house as he pointed to the 1950-ish trailer in the dirt backyard with a bunch of kids toys. "See, no problen, no banditos". I accepted his offer as there wasn't any other motels in Aguila but, I did have a roomate named Mr. Alejandro (who looked like someone's great-great-great grandfather) in the other bunk. I walked back to the main street, bought a 12 pack of beer, and upon returning, for the next hour, I, Alejandro and this samaritan, talked of family, traveling, working, food and weather. I left quietly the next morning. I'll never forget that. It reinforces what I already knew and have experienced abroad; the people with the least often give the most. John KLR Bugeater
