wolfman tank panniers?

Post by John Biccum » Tue Jun 17, 2014 12:16 pm

One PS: I'm 6 feet 3 inches tall with long legs. My knees rest against the aft end of the panniers, I find this quite comfortable as long as the panniers hold no objects with sharp protrusions. Works fine with a Wolfman Expedition tank bag From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Sent: 6/ 17/ 2014 12:31 To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com; nomad59@... Subject: RE: [DSN_KLR650] Wolfman tank panniers?   I use the Wolfman tank panniers on an aftermarket plastic tank.  I lash them forward to the vent holes in the tank, where the side panels would be on a stock tank.  I lash them aft to the frame near where the forward side cover fastener is fastened. I have found the tank panniers also work remarkably well as miniature side bags. I used them as side bags on  a V-Strom fly-n-ride, I also used them as side bags on a DRZ. But on the KLR I use them as designed (on the tank).  I usually dedicate one side as the "dirty" side.  This side has a fuel bottle for my campstove, a quart of motor oil, small bottle of ATF for my chain oiler. I use the "clean" side for things I will want when I stop: a ball cap, a sweater or light jacket. The Wolfman tank panniers have proven to be one of the most practical bits of Moto luggage own. They are NOT waterproof, but this hasn't been a problem as I have other waterproof luggage or can resort to zip lock bags inside the panniers.    From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Sent: 6/ 17/ 2014 11:19 To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Wolfman tank panniers?

Hey all who have used these, or actually seen in person mounted. 4 things (so far) What about, KNEE & LEG Space? Where do you fasten/hook the straps under the tank, Pic's do not show much.  How well do they work with other large mag. tank bags etc? ANY CON'S? things you did NOT like about long trips with them in place? I wouldn't mind moving some weight forward. (or STACK LESS HIGH, on the seat. LOL) and I do use my EXTENDED highway bar/foot pegs.
