glueing plastic???

Sent from my iPad Anybody have any luck glueing plastic on KLR's and other bikes. My left turn signal (rear) is working fine but broke the plastic tube thing holding it on unloading from my pickup. Also my old Yamaha dirtbike has a piece broken on the throttle cable where the twist grip is and some crash cracks on the body parts. Tried JB weld on the throttle thing but didn't hold. Will PVC glue or Super Glue woke? Criswell

I told RevMaaatin about it a year or two ago and he did it on something with ok results as I recall. Just put the glue on and sprinkle with baking soda. Let it set and then do again and again if needed. The super glue and baking soda mentioned works great.  I have used it on a bunch of things including the radiator shrouds that extend from the tank.  I also have used a cheap plastic welder from Harbor freight.  I think they are around $15.  They come with black plastic that you melt plastic together with.  I have used this in areas that are not going to be seen on other things such as the bagger unit lid on my John Deere Riding Mowers.  On Wednesday, April 2, 2014 8:33 AM, Jeff Saline wrote:   On Wed, 02 Apr 2014 10:21:44 -0500 Ron Criswell writes:

Plast-Aid Plastic repair Motorcycle Consumer news had it as there Innovation of the month. Does not only glues but WELDS INTO the plastics, like when joining pvc etc. PLUS extra around the part. Google the product (in Estes park co.) sold by others or direct.

glueing plastic???

Some plastic is "ungluable". Like teflon, for instance. TAP plastics can test it for you, if you have one of their stores in your area. You basically use a particular solvent and if the plastic softens, you can glue it, if not, not. Robert Wichert P.Eng. glueing plastic???

As Robert says, KIND OF. IF! it melts it will weld together, but "Glueing", often does not include Melting. Plastic-fix says   use a drop of the liquid in a not harmfull area, if it gets sticky, it will meld together. Otherwise it most likely GLUE together. Like using apoxy, or gorilla glue etc. TAP STORES? I just looked up there web page, they are only in 3 states CA. (16) OR.(2) & WA.(3) The 3 are all near John B. so send him all your repairs, COD! I'm sure that would make his day. LOL  PS. Just do NOT tell him I told you that, I would like to still be welcome on the west side of the Rockies, and More the Seattle area. LOL
