<><><>>><><><> Mike, Thanks for sharing that link. I considered the purpose of having the Fuse Buddy when I already have a VOM. Two reasons for getting it... it is 30 amps compared to the VOM 10 amp limit and if I have it I can use it and the VOM at the same time. Unfortunately I think the guy writing in the link thread is correct about mechanics and electrickery. I used to tell students that if they could understand electrickery they would be ahead of 95% of mechanics. Sometimes I think it might be even more than that. In a class of 20 students that means only one student will really get it. That seemed to hold up over a few years of classes. Thanks again, I enjoyed reading that link. Best, Jeff Saline

best doohickey video?
A friend sent this link to an excellent video explaining the operation of the balance shaft tensioner system. The narrator very clearly delineates between what he considers to be fact and what he offers as hypothesis:

Nothing new to my understanding of the system but thought it might be useful for someone who has not looked at this system, and in hope that it will provoke discussion which may indicate where my understanding is incorrect and where it is certainly incomplete.
There are individuals such as Eagle Mike who have far greater knowledge of these systems but I am reluctant to engage them into technical discussions unless I have a pressing need. The reason is simple, when they are dealing with some consideration for which I really don't require the information, they cannot help someone who does need their information. Simple arithmetic. That said, if a few guys are up to risking criminal charges, I'd be interested in kidnapping Eagle Mike and sequestering him in a remote location for extensive grilling.

I also noticed a video regarding the kick start system but have not reviewed. Thought someone might find it to be of interest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAsalFzISlM
It is titled #2 so likely #1 can be found.
