downed?? laptop (nonklr)

Post by mark ward » Tue Nov 19, 2013 10:15 am

Hey all GEEKS (LOL)

When I turn on my Compaq laptop, I can move the aroow and click on my log in, and tap in my password.

after that the main page comes up like Enternet, word, maps, etc to chose from BUT, while the arrow (mouse)
moves around, it no longer turns to a pointing finger, and NOTHNG else works.

To turn off,I must do it manually.

For the last 2 days, the screen saver, rotating my personal pics, locks on one, NO rotating

Have I just lost all my Garmin maps, word, and PICTURES.

NO I did not back up, I "kept planning" to learn how.

DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "I've been planning to"...... most Famous last words.

downed?? laptop (nonklr)

You probably did not lose your stuff (yet). See if your computer will boot to Safe Mode: Start the computer, and while the laptop is starting, tap the F8 key about once per second until the text menu comes up which gives you several start up options. Choose "Safe Mode" or "Safe Mode with Networking". If the computer starts and you can click on things with the track pad or mouse, there is merely a problem with your Windows installation. Report back with the following information: -- Did it boot in safe mode? -- What version of Windows do you have? (XP, 7, Vista, etc) -- Are you using the laptop's track pad or do you have a separate mouse connected? (if you don't have a separate mouse, buy or borrow one and try it) Mike

This is a brake cable for 1983-84 YZ250 which requires that the clevis be cut off the cable. I've installed a couple and very pleased with the heavier cable and smoother action.   The discovery was accidental after clutch cable broke on my year old 2004 but was so pleased with the improvement that installed onto others' bikes. Takes some work but worth it, IMO.   The stock cable is 0.080" diameter and this one 0.102" diameter so no doubt about how much stronger and more resistant to jacket liner wear--- assuming similar materials.   HIH   Norm <><><><><><><> <><><><><><><>   Norm,   You posted that info on Tuesday, 14 Aug 2007 at 17:34 mountain time.  It was in regards to someone asking about risers.  Kind of repeating yourself aren't you.  : )   Welcome back to the list.   Oh, yeah it was good info to keep then and still good info.  Thanks.   Best,   Jeff Jeff Saline The Beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota 75 R90/6, 03 KLR650 . . . . . .   ____________________________________________________________ Ready for Hillary? Add your name: We're ready for Hillary when she's ready to run. readyforhillary.com
