Hey All
If you use a water Bladder (Camelbak ETC.) it NEEDS to be cleaned and sanitized fairly often.
(As with all your water Bottles etc.)
any water left in it, even when "empty", can and WILL grow Bacteria, at least, changing the flavor of clean water, if not DIARIA, or minimum, shorten the life span of your bag.
CamelBak and Osprey both warn against heavy bleach use.
and both "advise" BUYING THEIR, Cleaning / sanitizing Tablets.
I did a lot of research, (GOOGLING, POST) and found some hiking groups that suggest that,.....
Using, Denture Cleaner tablets, works like the "Camelbak, Brand, ETC. Tablets.
(WASH in Soap & water, (WARM NOT hot.) Then Sanitize
They are designed to CLEAN, REMOVE STAINS, AND MOSTLY SANITIZE!!!
NOTE They also pointed out, DO NOT USE MINT, unless you want your water etc., to taste MINTY.
CamelBak 8 for $12. = $1.50
Walgreens (Grandma's) Denture tablets 90 for $5. = 6cents ($0.05555555555)
PS. I just picked up a "Steripen" (brand) that uses Ultraviolet light to KILL BACTERIA etc.

Even in the USA Well water or even Big cities, you can get DIARIA on a trip from water your body is not use to.
The water bottle has a PRE filter. When camping OUT BACK, fill it, then stir the water with the STERIpen, for about 1 minute. Safe water.
Kills 99.999 percent of Bacteria ETC ETC.

petcock diaphragm failure
I used to own a Suzuki VX800. It was a well-known problem for the petcock
to fail which eventually led to float valve failure on the rear carb which
could then fill the rear cylinder with gas causing hydro-lock which could
result in a bent con rod. Not good. Most of us just bought a new petcock
rather than fool around with diaphragm kits. I had two aftermarket kits
fail on my GS450 before biting the bullet and getting a new OE part.
