spring/shocks

Post by achesley43@ymail.com » Fri Jun 21, 2013 5:55 am

-Years back when I had put on lowering links, I went to a 425 LR spring in the rear which was a necessary to keep the tire off the fender with my 245 lbs. Last year I scored a very low mileage rear shock from and '09 on ebay for about 100 bucks if I remember right and installed it. Left it at the stock configuration and set sag to about 1/3 of total travel. But down to 200 lbs now so easier on the springs and my bike is faster. LOL! But, when getting this shock, with the new style KLR weighting about 20 or so pounds more than the old style, I figure Kawasaki bumped up the spring rate just a touch. It's working out pretty good for me at present. Oh, I did take off the lowering links and went back to stocks on that but had left the 425 spring on the rear.
