tank bags & caution

Post by jim witler » Tue Mar 19, 2013 8:55 am

I have a MotoPak tank bag (as well as their saddle bags and tail bag). The tank bag has a clear map window that has remained clear for 4 years and 40k miles with no yellowing or problems of any kind. They have many models and a website at motopakluggage.com and may purchased for a pretty good discount on eBay. I just purchased a Wolfman Enduro tank bag (for the KLR) and the map container is optional (velcro-ed on). Wolfman's features and build quality are exceptional and made in the USA. No affilaition with either company, just a satisfied customer of both. I returned the 1st one under warranty, Clear plasitic turning YELLOW AND The Map top ect would come un snapped at about 35-40mph. The new one SAME THING, a few months of sun and YELLOW, And i took it to a shoe repair and had the snaps replaced. Tour masters answer was, "IT IS JUST THE NATURE OF THE BEAST, PLASTIC YELLOWS IN THE SUN. While I have seen MANY OTHER BRANDS THAT DO NOT!

I forget. There's no reason is shouldn't work on both bikes. The KTM bag for the 640E is a very nice bag that should work too. --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "bryanonfire" wrote: > > I have a 2003 KLR in the USA and a 2008 in Europe. I'd like to get a tank bag that will fit both. Not too big, just big enough for a clear map pocket on top, and pockets to fit a snack, water bottle, bandana, and sunglasses. Maybe a small GPS and some odds and ends. The clear map pocket is the main thing I really want. > > No worries if I have to take it off to fuel. I'll only fuel once a day most times, and if I do it twice I'll want the break anyway. > > Anyone have suggestions for a tank bag that will work with the old and new generation KLRs, easy on and off, and won't get in the way of my legs too much? > > Thanks, > > Bryan > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
