Interesting to see the US Army is once again evaluating motorcycles for combat duty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xKV3_JmZC8 Unfortunately, they are Cristini 450s and not KLRs.

I believe the Diesel KLR was for the Marines and the Christini is Army. I hear the Air Force is working with BMW on a new S1400RR Adventure Bike. Navy and HD have in the works a FLH Tub King. Think I posted this here about 18 months ago, but according to a USMC MP major who belongs to one of our local rider's groups, not all the KLRs the USMC bought were diesel. The ones intended, apparently, for the military police were normal gas models. He stated that "all" the USMC gas KLRs were in local storage because none of the MP unit commanders trusted their cops to not kill themselves on motorcycles and refused to issue them to the police units. When I last talked about this with him--18 months ago--he did not know what would become of the stored bikes. According to the modifications manufacturer, the diesel KLRs are optimized for JP7 fuel; does anybody know whether one of these engines will run on "civilian" diesel--and what kinds? Also, note the Christinis are only under testing right now with the US Army--there is no guarantee they will be adopted. I have no additional info about SPECWAR (SEAL) use of them; perhaps somebody else can fill us in. Dave

$7695. Street legal version here: http://www.christini.com/bikes/christini-awd-450-ds http://soldiersystems.net/2012/10/23/ausa-christini-motorcycles/ It's a Chinese made Honda CRF-450 "replica" under there. I assume that Honda allows this because Asiawing makes some of the Honda bikes and engines and is (or was) licensed to do it. http://www.asiawing.com/english/lx450e.html Too bad that the US military has to go to China to get equipment.

Yeah, the first string 911 force(USMC), got the tool for the job. Unfortunately the second string (Army, Navy and Air Fairies) have to find wannabe bikes. Let the flame wars commence. BTW, I did 30 years with America's original 911 force. Our motto, "Cops are cops, Firefighters are Heroes. Buddy
