mystery part
I just finished installing a new rear tire on my 05 KLR. Everything
went well considering this was my first go at it. Despite my diligence
and mild paranoia, after all is said and done, laying underneath the
bike is a small clip. I can't think of where it might have come from
off the bike, but I swept the floor before work and so I am at a loss.
The extent of the work included removal of the rear wheel, caliper, and
inspection of bearings, and re-install. A photo of the Mystery Part is
posted. Anybody see this guy before?

Does anybody recognize this part? It's a long story, but the bike fell
over and when I picked it up, this part was laying on the garage floor.

The cam cover is off, if that helps.
And oil is everywhere. That didn't help. It's pretty slippery picking
up a bike with oil all over the floor.

That is the nut for the upper engine mount at the frame.

If your siting on the bike that would be on the left side, the bolt
goes in from the right side if memory serves.

That guy is pretty interesting. He just rides along talking and some of the things he says are pretty funny in a dead-pan sort of way.

The guy with the "kick it over oil change" video?
He's selling his bike.

Just don't do what I did and accidentally pinch the neutral light wire
behind that part when reinstalling it. I was leaving the bike shop after
doing so myself when I discovered the oops.
I sat under a tree in the front yard there for about 30 minutes doing a
hasty repair before going home.
(owner had just left with the door keys. Insult to injury.)
