At least 50K if you thrash it, many more if you take care of it. Mark [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

rear shock compatability

Post by Jeffrey » Tue Aug 16, 2011 1:28 pm

I have an 04. After 4 years the rear was very mushy. I added a stronger/better Eibach spring from esprings or eshocks. This made a huge difference. But, just recently I bought a used lo mile 09 shock. Then I transferred over the Eibach spring. My 04 shock was beat. The 08 on rear shock has an easier to adjust access screw to set the dampening. As Fred correctly warned me, THE BOTTOM BOLT IS A DIFFERENT LENGTH. I PUT THE NUT ON THE REAR SHOCK BOLT AND GROUND DOWN THE LENGTH ABOUT 1/4 OF AN INCH. Not sure if the bolt grinding was necessary to clear the links/dog bones. THEN UNBOLTED THE NUT TO KEEP GOOD THREADS. THEN I ADDED A THICK WASHER TO COMPENSATE. THE LOWER BOLT MOUNTING AREA OF THE 08 ON REAR SHOCK IS THINNER. WALLA...for 200 bucks (slightly used later model shock and Eibach spring)total I now have a like new great rear shock. J#3
