It looks to me the KLR still doesnt have electronic fuel injection. I am surprised by this. If I am wrong what was the first year it was introduced?

You are correct. The KLR's carb works fine though.
The only time when I might have really benefited from FI was when visiting
Colorado and driving at high elevations without rejetting.
The KLR ran fine and did what I needed it too, but there was significant
power loss.

ignorant klr question
My klr was upside down for about 20 minutes, well almost upside down. The
tires were the highest point on the bike. It took two of us to turn it over
and get it upright. After about 10 minutes the carb was still flooded, but
started after a few minutes. It would have been
Quicker if I could use the start button with the engine off switched to off
like my last yamaha to clear the flood. FI would have even been better, but
I never want to give up the carbs on my bikes.
