idle mixure screw adjustment

Thanks again for all the luggage comments. I've been reading these posts for a few months and just reread all the ones of interest that I had filed, and someone (Bogdan?) had carved some foam out of his seat, and put in some gel...I wondered how that was working out, if you have an upholestery place do the work, where you get the gel...Also a couple of you went with Corbin, one with a basketweave cover, one with leather carbon-fiber look, and I wondered how you liked them. Can't remember who all posted what, hopefully you guys know who you are! Marsha

I went with a Corbin vinyl, basketweave, no-dip saddle. I love it, and can now go until the gas tank is empty or my bladder is full. I measured the saddle for someone a while back, and still have the info - (which you can compare to the stock saddle. Wider is better, and of course the fancier foam makes a huge difference.) Measured every 6", starting at the very top where the saddle curves up the gas tank, (just like the stock one.) : 6" 8" 12" 13" 12" 9" within an inch or two of the very back of the saddle. Worked and works great, many 500 mile + days. The gel came from a moto-shop but I've heard that they're also sold a medical supply stores. I did have a auto-upholstery shop do the work.. Bogdan

I got the gel from JC Whitney and had an upholstery shop put it in. Comfortable but wish I had gotten the wider gel instead of the pillion seat gel. Todd A9

Huh.. writing style looks familiar...almost as if you've posted her before. Maybe I've seen you're writing on one of the other KLR discussion boards? I have a classic black basketweave leather Corbin with faux carbon fiber sides, yellow piping and find it very comfy. The style was orginally custom made by Corbin for Tim Bernard at Happy Trails, I had one made during a ride in appt. to Corbin in Hollister CA. I thought seriously about the Mayer, Russell seats but Corbin is practically in my backyard and I can ride over anyday and have a seat made.(First come first served, I'm there when they unlock the doors). My longest day on this seat was 550 miles from Mulege BCS Mexico to Ensenada. The seat designed for 2 up riding gives my tailbone a little support and is 2 tiered so the passenger can kickback and lean on the padded GIVI backrest if so desired. pics at http://www.klr650.com BTW I use the ortleib dry bags and they are the bomb...waterproof, tough, durable, etc. I gotta admit though one of my sidestraps got munched on the right side ...got torn right off the bag when it jammed in my rear hub. I loaded the bags on the bike at night during a DSN errand to a Helge Pedersen( or was it Ted Simon?) show at Watsonville/Santa Cruz CA BMW and didn't pay close enough attention to the straps in the darkness. Hey, I'm new to the site and looking for some advice. I am 6'4" and weigh 290 pounds. I am looking for another seat that would be comfortable for two people. The problem is when I ride with my wife or kids. They weigh about 130 pounds each and it is not comfortable to travel very far when doubling. I was just wondering if there was a different seat that would accommodate two people comfortably or if this was just a single person bike. I ride this bike exclusively on the highway. I've ridden an Electra Glide for the last 20 years, but love the Kawasaki KLR for what I want in a bike. Any information or suggestions is appreciated. Thanks, Jim

I will often wear the back brace from Home Depot, the one that has velcro and elastic waistband. Beats actually doing physical training, like we all should do ) Don M

Someone not too long ago mentioned Russel Seats. I looked them up on the web and they seem to have a seat that would fit your needs. They are expensive, but I'm sure you get what you pay for. They also have the option of a backrest for the driver (even on a KLR). It might be worth a look. I'm even considering one for next season. Ross Lindberg Fertile, MN

On a long trip on weekend, Dallas --> Hot Springs I had my baggage on the back long ways which somewhat made a nice back rest, after a few hundred miles I stopped and placed some books I had at the front so it would be sturdy, worked nice for long trips........................
