turn signals

My attempt to successfully mate Lockhart-Phillips Stubbies with the abuse that my KLR is administered has proven fruitless. My goal was to have running lights as well as turn signals in a smaller package. The Stubbies IMO are cheaply manufactured without regard for robust requirements. I've rubber mounted them as well to no avail. I've tried to modify my stockers to accept the different sockets to no avail. I've destroyed two and was unwittingly generous enough to give the other two to a needy KLR owner's crashed project. If anyone on the list has spares for any or all of the stock signals, I'd be happy to relieve you of those terrible burdens. I'm happy to pay shipping and a modest fee to be blessed with your generosity. TIA LaterZ Dash

My right signal does not blink. I comes o n and stays on. My left signal works fine. When I switch t he bulbs, the right si gnal still does not blink. It stays on just as it did with the first bulb. Is there a flasher in there somewhere that is broken? Any ideas? Ken D

Front or rear turn signals? If one of the signals is out, the other one on the same side won't blink, it will only stay on as yours do. It could be a loose connection or a bad bulb. dat brooklyn bum --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "sheilandken" wrote:

The flasher is on the right side along the main frame tube, if not sure where remove the cover on the coolant reservoir and flip the signal switch feel and listen for the click, I have replaced these without removing the tank, I go back with a big truck type electronic flasher (two post type it is about the same size) and a zip tie, if you add extra signal lights this is a must for them to flash. To all I saw on the roads and trails in N.W.Arkansas a double wave back at you JD-S.W. Oklahoma A-1 poor thing had to stay home this time A-17 800 miles this trip, no problems, loaded to heavy to get over 100 mph TT600 could of used it a few times KX500 flight time would have been longer [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I just used signals from a Buell. You can get them at your nearest Harley dealer. They are very nice lights. The best is the price at $5 and chagnge per light. I also had to buy a flasher relay for the different bulbs at Auto Zone for 2 or 3 bucks. Check out the Buell lights. I think they look much better than these. Hope this helps. Mike

"I am a man of constant signals. I leave signals on all my day." Sorry. I once had to install a JCW loud signal beeper on a van- too much Rolling Stones during high school. It worked. If I were to buy one for the KLR- yes- I leave the signal on for miles- where would I put it. IE where is the signal flasher unit? Ignorant as usual, don a17 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

You can pick up a couple of 12v electric beepers at Radio Shack for about $3 a piece. They are about the size of a dime, and can be stuck to the inside of your front fairing with double sided tape. Put one on each side, and tuck the wire ends into the connections there where the front turn signal wires come through the fairing. They'll beep whenever your signal is flashing, and your friends will look at you funny when you're stopped at traffic lights. Steve W.

Hi Don, I have the same problem when I got my A17 brand new. After a week, I installed a buzzer from Radio shack and two diodes (24v.1amp) with white band (positive) soldered together to the positive side (red wire) of the buzzer then the sepparate ends of each diode (without white band) tapped to the right and left hot wires to each signal lights. The black wire of buzzer goes to ground chassis of your bike. Note>make sure wires that are not soldered/connected together are either separated by electrical tape or spaghetti tubbing otherwise you'll have an electrical short. Better yet, consult someone who knows electronics if your not sure. Happy beepping!!! Rey Odejar --------------------------------- Yahoo! FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click.
