Does anyone know where I can get a sissy bar for an 08  KLR? I am ok for luggage, so I don't want to buy a tailcase with a built in backrest. But I would like a backrest of some kind. Any ideas are welcome, Thanks in advance, DC

I saw a pink KLR once! Maybe there are a few sissies. New world, new rules I guess! DC, Do you want the BACKREST (tough guy speak for sissy bar) for the Passenger seat or for you? I have a few dry bags and have had good luck positioning them carefully as to provide a backrest for longer trips, especialy nice when used with highway pegs by the way. The backrest is what I am actually looking for. I made a good one for my A13,  but the 08  is different. By the way, my first thought about the "Sissies on KLRs" comment  was a quote from Shakespeare, "Methinks the lady doth protest too much D Critchley

Dave, Have you ever thought of wearing a kidney belt? Gives GREAT back support for MY 67 year old back (some 12 hour days going to Alaska several times....). Ed

Ron, hang your head in shame...you ride a beautiful machine then you use a sissy phone to tell us all about it. As the advert says 'Get some Nuts' But to keep on topic, rather than a backrest bar why not just put a Givi topbox on and get the back rest pad to go on that. It also adds storage. Thunderstorms are the norm this week. So, I got in a bit of maint. on the KLR today. The rear spokes looked a bit ragged after soap didn't get rinsed off well and they started to go white with corrosion in a few places. I pulled the wheel and took it inside to escape the humidity & heat. Some 0000 steel wool and WD-40 made the spokes look right again. To while the time away, I popped The World's Fastest Indian in the DVD player. Sitting there, tending to a bike wheel, watching a story about an old bloke and his bike just seemed "right". I had to grin: I live 2 blocks from Munro street and 4 or 5 blocks from Virginia Street  - where Jane Russell {Burt Munro's favorite actress} lived while her husband was at Ft. Benning before her career took off. I don't rev my engines at 0530 like Burt does in the film. But, my landlord has graciously looked the other way while I take one apart in the driveway.   eddie
