I love the Michelin Anakee's paved road performance. The Anakees are good in both wet or dry conditions. I would say these are about 90% pavement and 10% off-road tire (90/10. Not the lowest priced tires out there, but for me, they're worth it for their paved road performance. For off-road riding, I switch to Dunlop D606's.

maxxis m7000 dualmaxx tires / michelin anakees
I was hoping for a little more "good on gravel/dirt". I don't want instantaneous wash-out off road.
Thanks for the Dunlop 606 tip, though. Would you put the 606s better or worse than the K750s?

Re: [DSN_KLR650] Maxxis M7000 Dualmaxx tires / Michelin Anakees How about wear ? What kind of mileage do you get from Anakees – say compared to Avon Gripsters, long the favorite 90/10 ?

Bogdan,
I/ve never used the Avon Gripsters, so I can't give a fair comparison. You can of course do a search on them to discover what other KLRisters have gotten in the way of mileage for them. For myself on the Anakee's, I'm at about the 3600 to 4000 mile mark, and I still; have good tread left. I don't expect them to get the crazy long distance mileage I've heard some brands and models get, but they're not the worst in that department either.

#ygrps-yiv-123694086 p {margin:0;}I just order my tires online and spoon 'em on myself. I built a static balancer and never looked back.

Every where you go they say "we can order it and have it in a few days." I truly understand you can't stock everything, but ofton it's even simple things like differant helmit sizes. Here in SNOWY Michigan, (and Grand rapids is the second largest city in Mi.) no one "Carries" heated grips or the $27. inserts to heat you own grips. Well 20 miles at 12 mpg. (truck) it was CHEAPER & FASTER! to have Aerostich deliver it to my door. AND save the time chasing it AGAIN. (I installed them in the time it would take to make the trip 1 time, let alone RETURN TRIP to pick them up. I haked doing business over the phone or on-line, BUT the local shops have been teaching me to except it. The dealer in the SMALL town of Mason Mi. (Groves motorsports) has been more accomadating then any of the dealer's HERE IN Grand Rapids. I will travel there to get my new tires (will call ahead) and possibly a newer cruiser this spring. Hey it's 70 miles away a good excuse to RIDE.[img]https://ec.yimg.com/ec?url=http%3A%2F%2 ... Thats how I got a 606 on the front, ordered front and rear at the shop I was working at at the time, rear came in and front was backordered, was at the shop on a sat and wanted to change out tires before running home (60 miles pavement) since my K270's were ummm very thin. Called another shop down the road just being curious and that happen to have a 606 on the rack somebody ordered and never picked up, they gave it to my for cost. tada Dooden A15 Green Ape --- In DSN_KLR650%40yahoogroups.com, mark ward wrote: > > Tidings from West Michigan > I got Lucky! > So far I like My Metzler, I had about 2mm on my stock. > Last fall when I called 8 bikeshops incloding the local Kawasaki, closet place to have ANY tire instock that fit the KLR650 was a K, dealer 70 miles away. > well for some reason I called the Local BMW 2 miles from My house, 1st answer No we don't stock any thing for the KLR, then asked to hold, .... we have a tire that a guy ordered for his BMW and rode only about 20 miles and returned it, It still has the teats on it, $75. mounted. > as I said I GOT LUCKY! > (or was it a sample that I like, now I have to shell out the big $$...LOL) RIDE ON! > > > > > ____________ _________ _________ __ > From: Jeff Khoury > To: DSN KLR650 > Sent: Wed, February 3, 2010 2:03:37 PM > Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Metzeler Enduro 3 Sahara (Rear) Tire Review > > > Good Morning, > > As I promised when I installed it, I will put out my thoughts on this tire. > > Cut to the chase: > > I like it very much. It has a fairly aggressive tractor-tire like tread pattern with large knobs spaced far apart. This gives it excellent traction in sand, deep gravel and on the slab. Wet traction on the street is outstanding and it performs exactly like the stock tire. I ride aggressively on the street and frequently lean into peg-dragging territory when it's dry. > > The large knobs keep it from getting squirmy when leaned over. The large spaces between the knobs ward off hydroplaning when it's raining heavily. I did not ride the tire in mud, but the design of the tread leads me to believe that it would self-clean better than some. I noticed no tearing around the base of the knobs even with all that street riding. > > The sidewall is very stiff. Stiff enough that I was able to sit on the tire before I put it on the rim without deforming it. The carcass is thick which is a bonus when riding in areas where thorny or rocky things live or if you need to run flat back to the truck to get a new tube. > > Mileage: > > I have a hair over 6,000 miles on the tire (mostly street, lots of lane-splitting and stop-n-go) and it looks like I could get another thousand out of it as there is about 1.5mm of tread left in the center. > > As a comparison, my stock tire was dead bald in the center at 5,800. > > > There are only two downsides I can think of: Price ($150.00) and Noise.
