Yes in that order. First make sure it hasn't just came unscrewed from the bottom of the steedo housing. Then hopefully just a broken cable, if not hopefully just damaged drive lugs. If not hopefully not a damaged front hub. Dan /|\

My KLR650 speedo seem to have been damaged by too much offroading. Where can I get a used one for replacement? Jose

No change. The speedo reads from the front wheel. Alan A13 Iowa

The speedo reads of the front wheel so there should be no changes in the typical poor accuracy of the KLR speedo. on 10/18/05 14:12, sgdragracer at sgdragracer@... wrote:

Emmm.......... don't think anything would change as the speedo is connected to the front wheel. Criswell

Hi, i have a 6 month old KLR, 1500 on the clock, and the speedo has stopped working. I'll get it fixed under warranty but I was curious if this was a common problem. Thanks Col

Attachments : I suggest that you check the cable at the speedo end.  It has probably come loose.  Not tightening this properly at the factory is altogether too common of a problem.  Cable failures at that mileage are rare, speedo failures at that mileage even more so.

Cable on back of speedo, make sure its tight, if its loose take it off and if you can raise front wheel, spin it and check to ensure that the cable is spinning. Read the FAQ about front hub assy, if you take anything apart.. if put together wrong it will be costly. Dooden A15 Green Ape
