It was a little warmer than that here. The weather doesn't matter. The I-Cycle derby is in its 61st year: http://www.travelersmc.com/icycle.shtml No, I didn't take part. I have been considering this event every New Year's Day for the last 40 years. In the days when I had a Jawa Californian ready to fire up all year round, there was a pretty good chance I might actually show up. But somehow, when New Years Day dawns clear and cold, I never seem to feel quite ready to suit up and go ride a motorcycle. I will usually sleep right through the 10:00a.m. start time; in fact, the rally could be over by the time I rear my ugly head.> > --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, Eric Foster wrote: > > > > Obviously you don't live in Maine! 6f for a high yesterday with -15 > > windchills........ > > > > E > > Same story here in sunny (not) Vermont... > > da Vermonster >

A mere 24 deg. F in the Washington, DC, area. Met up with 30 or 40
riders for a sunny day ride. Heck, it got over freezing by noon!

74 degrees predicted for the high in Dallas / Ft. Worth today. Severe
clear skies. Working in short sleeves on the fence right now. May
ride this afternoon.

We reached 78 degrees east of Dallas. Went to Edom for blackberry cobbler with ice cream. Basically the perfect day. I was happy that I am not a Chinese peasant.

Big thing for a street ride here is even if you overcome the temps (I've
ridden 50 miles of sled trails at -5 on a pick-equipped XR650R) you have
to deal with ice and a lot of sand on the roads. If it was only I on the
roads, I'd do it. With the yahoos in the cages, you end up dead!
