suspension upgrade

Post by delsuhr@optonline.net » Mon Nov 03, 2008 4:19 pm

I have done a lot of business with Klaus at EPM Performance: http://www.epmperf.com/. His business is performance motorcycle shocks and will custom-build. Klaus was the exclusive importer for Wilbers for years and has an excellent reputation in the BMW community, especially for his post-sale service. He has put Wilbers on my BMW's and my wife's SV650, so I had him put together a YSS shock for my '03 KLR and it totally transformed the bike. Solid on-road and totally planted off-road, over rocks, though whoops, etc. It also has a larger-than-stock-diameter piston for what should be a more durable unit, plus an external adjuster for easy transition from on/off road or two-up. Klaus is especially good for us "special needs" guys for whom stock and off-the-shelf stuff just doesn't cut the mustard (I am 6'5" and 300+). This is a quality unit and it ain't cheap, but the quality and service are first-rate. Given my needs and the fact that I plan to own this bike for a long time I had no trouble justifying the expense. YMMV... Eric

Suspension upgrade. Posted by: "hotrodkawi" hotrodkawi@... hotrodkawi Sat Nov 1, 2008 1:50 pm (PDT) I'm looking to replace the suspension front and rear on my 07 KLR. I'm leaning to the 420 progessive setup fron and rear. Any thoughts. recomendations? The next option would be the Moab shock with the progressive springs up front. If anybody has expirenced both I would really like to know if the Moab is worth the extra dough. I am not a rich man. Has anybody put the Progressive rear shock on their bike. I'm interested on how it works off road.. I do a fair amount of off roading on my bike. would like to know if the Progressive set up is good off and on road.
