i'd like to buy a vowel, please
So I put about 95 miles on my A9 (barbie colors), yesterday, between
Morgantown and West Chester, PA. With temps in the 50's, I was once
again thankful for the investment I made last fall in my battery
powered Gerbings vest.
I enjoyed most of the ride on state roads under overcast skies,
although the bit involving riding through a ground cloud over a big
hill was much less enjoyable. Besides wetting my clothes (I had
dressed for cold, but not for rain), it pelted my cheeks and felt
like getting sandblasted at close range. I also had a couple short
exploratory side trips involving gravel lanes.
I had just finished checking out St. Peters Village, taking pictures
of the waterfall and doing some leg-borne rock hopping on the creek,
when I headed back toward home, first east on Rte 23, then south on
100. I was passing through the little village of Eagle, when I
passed a couple guys on sport bikes coming north. I offered the
usual wave, but rather than the expected wave back, one of the riders
instead made a patting motion on the top of his helmet.
I've been riding motorcycles on and off the road for most of my
life. I don't remember ever seeing this gesture. I thought maybe he
was trying to tell me I had a problem with my headlight, but upon
inspection, it was working, so that's not it.
Can someone please explain it to me?
Thanks,
Kevin
My other bike is a powered paraglider.

I like the signal for "Look out for the law", might be termed the
"Copper-top" signal. Around here the usual is to either blink the
headlight 3 or 4 times, or left arm straight out to the side and raised
and lowered slowly. I usually signal trucks and motorcycles, as the
mini-van full of soccer hooligans and a mom don't usually seem to
understand.

I have to say I've never seen that before.
Here is a list of standards:

There is an other one that could be added to the
list, eventhough it is used only in Europe ( so far )
Right Foot off the peg, leg at about 5 o'clock ,
means Thank You . Widely use on the interstates at
high speeds when passing . No jokes .

No but I ride a 3/4 helmet most of the time, I have the tall Kaw shield from PO and wanted to go short so I cut down an old 5 button face shield that I had disguarded from my helmet, works great.
