fender brace

Post by imperial-4776@webtv.net » Sun Jun 23, 2002 12:24 pm

Hi Folks, Sometime ago I rode with someone (can't remeber who now) and they had a metal brace installed on their front fender. Here's my problem, I have a fender bag for spare tubes, and the vibration from the up and down motion, because of the added weight, can be felt in the handle bars at around 55 mph and upwards. I need some way of making the fender more ridged, but still allowing me to be able to use my fender bag. Any suggestions ? TIA Dave Salem OR KLR650

I have seen them before. I think they are called fender brace or fender supports. Its a piece on aluminum with large holes in the center. I saw them in an old denis kirk catalog but cant find it in the new one. I think Moose makes them but can't find it on their website. you could try arrowheadfred or dualstar.

Dave, Search for Acerbis Fender Braces. I think Dennis Kirk has them, the part number is 614008 from an old catalog I have. I would give Fred a call, he would know. Per Chris's Page: "Acerbis aluminum front fender brace: This also broke on the LA-B-V, in the aforementioned hard drop. Looks like constant vibration fatigue-hardened the aluminum, so that in the crash, it snapped rather than bending. The nylon ones don't fit, so I'm going back to no fender brace." Chris's Page: http://www.galcit.caltech.edu/~stingray/klr.html A lister at the CMC had made one out of Carbon Fiber, it looked very trick. John

oxtar infinity boots for sale

Listers, A friend of mine in Minneapolis has a pair of Oxtar Infinity Dual Sport boots for sale. They are size 44 which is about a 10. He used them for one ride and can't use them because of an ankle deformity from an old fracture that the boots won't accommodate. He's got the box and the boots for all purposes are like new. If it wasn't for his old fracture he'd be riding with these boots. Now the part that is really good is he'll let these boots go for $185 plus shipping costs. About two months or so ago these were on close out at New Enough dot Com for I think $189 plus shipping. That was a great deal if they had your size. These boots as far as I know are no longer available unless someone finds a stash somewhere. When they are again returned to the market they will, from what I've been told, stay the same with a new name. This was something to do with a copyright or label law or something when the company was sold. The other thing I was told is the new version will be 10-15% more expensive than the MSRP for this version. And the MSRP as best I remember was about $260. So, if you're still with me and are interested in getting a very good boot at an exceptional price here's your chance. Contact Ernie Swihart at ewswihart@... . Do not contact me as I don't have the boots and will only tell you to contact Ernie. I'm sure these are a first come first serve item and he only has one pair. Thanks for your time and indulgence.
