bonehead previous owner!!!
Besides stripping out the spark plug threads and the valve cover, which
I fixed a while ago; I went to do the valve adjustment and found out
that he had broken one of the camshaft caps and fixed it with "JB Weld
Epoxy". Not surprisingly the exhaust value is way out of spec. Of
course, the cap broke again when I loosened the bolts.
Now the bad part, you can't buy the cam caps. Seems as though they are
line bored and a matched set. The only way to get a new one is to buy a
new head ...
Now I know JB Weld is pretty inexpensive, but I would rather fix it
right. Anyone got a good used head for my A9 and live somewhere close
to a shipping site? I do not need the cams, just the head and the cam
retention stuff.

<><><><><><><><><> <><><><><><><><><> PauL, Sorry to hear about your surprises. I'm wondering if a good, no make that very good, machinist couldn't make you a new cam cap on your head for less than the cost of a new head. Either way you'd have to pull the head. Doing the set up to make the new bore match the existing bore would be critical. Other than that I think it would be simple machine work. All you'd need to do is fund the project. : ) Just a thought.
