which trans america route?

Post by davseidman » Mon Oct 29, 2007 12:34 pm

There are two mapped-out dirt road routes across the country. One is from Adventure Cycling: it's for pedal bikes but works for motorcycles. I did their continental divide route from Mexico to Canada and itworked well. The other is made for motorcycles by Sam Correro. It takes a more southern route. I'm doing one of these this spring, but not sure which. Ay opinions? David

<><><><><><><><> <><><><><><><><> David, Since you've already done the GDR I suggest you try the TAT and then tell us how it goes. A comparison with the GDR would be nice. I did the GDR a few years ago and the TAT is on the list but no dates or planning yet. Maybe in the next couple of years I'll get around to it. The TAT east of Ozarks is boring. Unless you're hot about doing the entire thing, I'd either start from the west coast, or start in Arkansas. Z

Thanks to everyone that keeps the KLR mods, upgrades and troubleshooting alive in this group. Not to exclude any other group. But I belonged to afew groups. Yeah, just got home with my 2007 KLR BLACK(most reliable color,,, couldn't resist). I have wanted this bike for years. Actually since the 90's So lets cut to the chase..... Break in method?......... Sorry.... When to change the oil.....Sorry.... Here is how I am doing it.... After the motor was warm(real warm) hit 4000rpm quickly as possible. Yeah, multiple times and decelerated just as quickly too. Trying to watch the road I hit 5000 two or three times? Please respond.... I did spent most of the time around going through the gears and getting acquainted with her....Miles of smiles... ... Got the bike with 3 miles.. Now I have 68 miles on the bike. I am planning a 200 mile oil change which oil would be the best for break in........ Good detergent oil? Also So I stopped at the hardware store and puchased my case of blue loctite......
