what part of the lane should a motorcycle drive on?

Post by sandyal55@aol.com » Sat Oct 06, 2007 9:32 am

I haven't read the other posts, so this might be a repeat. I know of no law pertaining to lane position. I change sides based on safety for the particular situation at that exact time. IE: When you approach an intersection in the left lane, you should be on the right side so that oncoming traffic trying to make a left in front of you can see you more easily. When on a multi lane road, you want to be nearer to a car in the next lane when slightly behind them. That way you'll be visible in their outside mirror. If you're on the opposite side of the lane, they can't see you and might change lanes when no one is in the mirror. If you ride to the right side of the lane, other vehicles will take advantage and use the left side when passing. I don't like that. I do like to drive on the inside lain most of the time because I believe it allows for more visibility and maneuverability if necessary to avoid something. I think driving on the right hand side of the road (especially at night) where there are lots of deer is more dangerous than driving on the left side of the lain.
