ims locking gas cap?

Do any of you with IMS 6.6 gallon tanks use a locking gas cap? If so where did you find it? One of the guys from adventure rider has a locking acerbis gas cap ordered. He is gonna try it on his IMS tank cause another poster on advrider said it fits his tank like it was made for it.I am following his thread to see how his test turns out. The cap is on back order right now. Regards,Gary

--- That would be great if you would report back on that, Gary. I can't ride my KLR to my gf's apartment complex without a locking cap because the kids descend on it like vultures. Got better things to do than stay up all night guarding fuel. Locking cap would be outstanding.

You might just have to leave the KLR at home and drive the wife's car. (Running for cover) Norm

--- Now be serious, Norm. How could I be sneaking over to the gf's place if my wife wasn't already out (with her car). You try to have a serious conversation and these are the replies you get... Anyway, with the kids in that neighborhood, I'd half expect they'd respond to a locking cap by poking a hole in the plastic tank anyway. I've gotta start shoppin' in a better neighborhood.

I got my Acerbis locking gas cap today. It fits the IMS tank like it was made for it! It came with a seal so if you buy one...dont order an extra seal. Regards,Gary- -- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "Gary" wrote:

Did you have to customize anything, or was it as simple as unscrewing your cap and putting this new one on? [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Hey Matt, Just unscrew the factory cap and screw on the Acerbis cap. That simple. When you screw the cap onto the tank and "lock" the Acerbis cap,it's not really locked. It just turns freely in either direction until you put the key back in and "unlock" it.So actually I guess it is locked when you are screwing it on and off and it is unlocked when it is on the tank and you can't unscrew it. I think Arrowhead Motorsports carrys them now. They are listed on the new products page. Regards,Gary --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "Matt Klingler" wrote:

People's brains are not always connected to their eyes. A few weeks ago I was at a local hamburger stand, and a kid was coming out of a parking lot, and literally accelerated right into the side of a big SUV passing by.
