Broke off the lower two tabs tonight on the right front radiator cowling when a pheasant hit it. Can the tabs be reattached without messing up the rest of the cowling? Would an adhesive work if so which one? Would a plastic welding work...is there such a thing or is it dealer time (I did not see anything on e-bay). Where does one find Seafoam for carburator cleaning? Pat

Pat, I don't know about gluing them on, everything I've read on the forums says it may work for a while, but then breaks. Mine broke off several years ago. One had enough material left that I could drill a hole in the remaining piece, and use a zip tie. The other I drilled two 1/16" holes in the cowling and run it through them. I've successfully used shoe goo to attach the tabs back on. It lasted until the shroud was wacked again. -Bryan

Hot glue gun worked on mine. Pick up Seafoam at NPA or other car parts place. Great Stuff!

Another option might be to drill through the cowl and the tab, then drive a small (number 4) sheet metal or wood screw from the cowl into the tab. This has worked for mine and a couple of others I've fixed. Doesn't show too much and mine have stood up for a couple of years. Touch wood (hand on head), Seafoam is available through NAPA in this area so I assume it is a NAPA line. How did the pheasant taste? Remember that Pat's riding an '07, so it uses a different material for the bodywork. Pat, there's some stuff called Plastex http://plastex.home.att.net/> that I've used to fix broken tabs on sport bike bodywork. I generally also use the fiber reinforcement cloth that comes with the kit, as the tabs take a fair amount of stress and the cloth helps make a stronger bond. Pat, I'm not home for a day or two so don't have access to my photos of the repair I made to all the tabs on my cowlings. I used 1/8" aluminum and pop rivets to the cowling and bolts to the bike. They've worked well for a couple of years. If you look at the De Tour site Greg is hosting for another month or so... near the end, maybe day 14 or 15 I have a picture of the last repair using parts I carried for two years. Two small holes, one small zip tie. A quality install will have the union inside and out of sight. One snip and you have quick access too. --Jim

Pat, Drill 1/4" holes at each location, then use a 1/4" bolt with a piece of fuel line (as a protector/spacer, maybe 1" or so), a pair of flat washers and a Nylock nut to go thru the panel, spacer, washer, piece of flat stock to the attachment site, 'nother flat, then the nut. Tighten ONLY enough to take up the 'slack' and get into the nylon insert in the Nylock nut. Mine's been like that since 236 kms (38,000 NOW!!!). Good luck. Ed
