Anyone out there know where I can get a new or used thermostat for my 01? The stealer wants $34 plus tax for one. Thanks in advance. Still running hot. Have you done the "fan overide mod" yet? You need a switch so you can turn the fan on whenever you want. Also, a switch to turn off the lights when you want too. GM

GM _________________________________ Nope. I'd be afraid to turn the fan off... It's on most of the time in the city and all of the time when I stay at 75-80mph. The only time the fan stays off is if I putt at 55-65 mph. Thanks for the input. JD ____________________________________________________________________________________ Got a little couch potato? JD, I setup the fan override switch on mine and it still will work automatically too. Since the switch is just a ground, all I did was splice into the fan wire, ran it to a switch, then the other side of the switch to a ground. I can turn the switch on and the fan comes on, or with the switch off, the radiator sending unit turns it on. Can you say where the instructions are to do this mod? I haven't had much luck finding how install the fan bypass switch, and it's not from lack of looking. thanks, Mike ==================== Re: New Thermostat... Posted by: "Geoff" k7nut@... k7nut Mon Jul 2, 2007 5:50 pm (PST)

I did the headlight (high beam only) off switch and fan over ride (so the fan stays on all the time when the switch is flipped) switch in about the first 10 modifications (now at 90 mods). Both have been useful mods IMO. I use the headlight off switch frequently when trail riding on slow trails. The fan switch over ride is one I though would be used more often but was in play a lot today during 50 miles of hot, gravel, washouts, creek crossings, slides and other nasty stuff. Great fun, fantastic scenery. While waiting for my Dad to arrive to pick up wife & son's TTR125L's (not road legal) we sat and relaxed for over 1/2 hour. Nice restful time watching the birds and the river. Restful up to the time I saw that I had left the key on with headlight gleaming high beam! Gotta love that new battery! It fired up, just barely but fired! I shut the high beam off and the battery was right up by the time we got back. It was handy to be able to flip back to low beam to activate the headlight when ever a vehicle approached on the other direction. Norm [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I bought mine from Fred, but as I recall, his price was in that neighborhood, too. The problem is that it's a non-standard size, so there aren't reasonably-priced alternatives. I wouldn't trust a used thermostat. One other note, DJ: If you don't find the overheating problem solved by changing out the thermostat, be aware that you can overheat the new thermostat and again be needing a new thermostat. :-( -- Blake Sobiloff http://sobiloff.typepad.com/blakeblog/> San Jose, CA (USA) [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
