I have had a great time on the list, but my trusted and loved KLR left today. I replaced it with a GS. I posted a pic in the photo section of the two side by side: http://tinyurl.com/vrt7 What a difference.... I will still check in from time to time and I will still support the KLR ShimCalc, GearCalc, BeerCalc and any other ironjungle.com software products. I will also keep the KLR History timeline updated as long as Kawa keeps shipping KLRs. For those of you on the list that have helped me over my wonderful years and years of KLR ownership; MANY THANKS. Pat - @...

Pat, let us know when you're looking to replace that KLR. We'll help you get back into the groove. Been there, done that. Couple of times. On the third KLR now. No more GSs. Not for me, anyways. Bill Monahan ex-GSer (though I still ride an R1100RS sometimes)

I know exactly what you mean. After I sold my 1st KLR and got a VFR I noticed the error in my ways. My 2nd KLR was a great bike; I will miss it. Pat

Well, that big GS looks like a ton of bike. Can you tell us what rationale drove your decision? I ask this because I thought long and hard about this same issue, and the KLR won out because of it's low cost and simplicity, plus the fact that it will do the legal speed limit anywhere all day long. I'd be interested to know why you've made the switch. =gc= --- hens_p wrote:

He will be back, with a KLR within a year I would guess. The GS is a really nice bike sure, but it aint a KLR. Dooden A15 Green Ape and Kitty --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, Gary Charpentier wrote:

Ditto for sure! I still have my 1150GS, but my KLR is still my hands down favorite. Marv Schmid

Wait till he drops it on a trail somewhere, and realizes he needs a four ton crane to pick it up :) He'll be back ... Dave Oregon

Supposedly the '04 1200 GS is going to be a vast improvement over the 1150 with an engine that is 40lbs lighter, more power and a return to single plug heads. There seems to be some weird attraction between these two bikes as I have customers that flip flop between the two constantly. Gino www.rvmc.com

This has come up a bunch of times, but it's not even figuratively true. I've picked up a KLR a bunch of times. I've picked up a GS a couple of times. The GS isn't particularly harder to pick up than the KLR. Both are heavy enough that picking them up isn't my favorite form of exercise, and both can be picked up easily enough that I'm not worried about not being able to do it. People can pick up Wings; what's one of these in comparison? -Lujo
