like a gripster but softer

Post by hobbhavnklr650 » Wed May 23, 2007 11:49 pm

For my riding style and habits, gripsters have been a good tire for me. But... with such a hard bead and tight fit, it was a struggle to get the rear tire on in my garage. During the entire life of the tire, I dreaded having a flat on the road, which fortunately never came. Now, I need to replace it and would like something close in design, but hopefully easier to mount. Could anyone offer up a successor? Thanks. Keith Idaho KLR

wanting to buy a klr

Hello I am wanting to buy a KLR 650, but have no idea what the cost of a used KLR 650 should run. I know that prices vary with the miles ect. but I'm looking for the average price for the years, 1995 through, say 2005. Anyone have price figuares for those years? Thanks Joe Batson

I'd go to the NADA website to get a High / Low / Average Retail Price for the bike and year. I would then get familiar with the prices of new tires, clutch, etc. and what a dealer would be charging to do that work unless you're able to do repairs / maintenance yourself. Look at the bike and ride it (is the clutch slipping or almost about to; are the tires worn, etc.). If it was well cared for and it has the accessories that you value and is otherwise in good shape, I'd start adding up to $500-$750 that I would pay above NADA's Average Retail. If you see that it needs new tires, has clutch problems, wheels wooble, burns oil, makes funny engine noises - run the other way unless you're handy, have a lot of time, and the bike is going for a low enough price to cover all of these failings.
