Also make sure the lever is really moving away from the grip all the way. I think the brake lite switch is under the lever and could just need a bit of an adjustment. This is probably a pretty easy fix. I really doubt it's the rear brake switch unless you've recently dropped the bike on the right side or gotten into some pretty nasty riding.
