klr650 awareness ride for autism

Post by ddickca » Sat Mar 17, 2007 11:48 pm

Hello I sold my 2002 KLR650 about 2 years ago. The new owner equipped the bike for an adventure tour from Regina Saskatchewan to Tuktayuktuk, which is located in the Northwest Territories on the Arctic Circle. Mr Powaschuk is completing this ride to raise awareness for autism. He just left three days ago, and I thought that the DSN_KLR650 crowd might be interested in following his progress. Here is the website WWW.rideupforautism.ca I am sure he would appreciate the support of this fine group. I for one appreciate that my bike went to a good home.

klr650 awareness ride for autism

He left yesterday? Wow! I hope he doesn't get hurt or frozen! We lived in Yukon for eleven years and I can tell you that this is Waaaayyy too early for that country. Since the trip is to draw attention to Autism he has a different agenda than the adventure rider but wow. March on the Alaska highway by bike is one thing but the Dempster and then Tuktayuktuk........ If he shows photos and ride reports it will be well worth following akin as it is a journey to crossing Russia in the summer. Is he hoping to do the Tuktayuktuk section while the road is frozen? Still trying to understand why he would go now instead of July or August..... Norm [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Pre-delivery Assembly and Preparation. A common problem with new KLR's is that dealer's use inadequately trained personnel and/or take too little time to assemble and prepare new motorcycles properly. Every new owner is "supposed" to get an A&P Checklist from the dealer at delivery certifying a proper A&P was performed. See Dealer Prep PDF in the Links section of the DSN_KLR650 Discussion List. I didn't get one from my dealer and let it go, but I did look over my bike carefully and corrected a few things. The current(?) A&P Sheet for the KLR650 is P/N 99931-1382-51 (2001/A15 model), and can be purchased from Kawasaki. This is the document that the person at the dealership should have used to A&P a KLR650. Fred
