mufflers just off the ground, and a little dinky gas tank, and they call it 'Dual Sport. Not to mention small front tire. I guess they mean for your back yard, not the country. Oh well, I am glad I am having fun with the KLR, I don't see an acceptable dual sport on the horizon.

Hm, I dno't see them calling it a dual sport, and they only say it'll handle "rough roads", not "off road". I think it more directly competes with bikes like the multi-strada. Of course, I don't disagree about the not seeing an acceptable dual sport on the horizon bit... erik

I'm curious, aren't the V Strom 1000 and KLV 1000 (or the like) the same bike? Could Suzuki have anything to do with this one? Doesn't look like as much of an off road bike as a KLR650 to me. I find specs on both currently offered: Black boxie (with quick release plate): 16-3/4"W (at widest point) x 12"H x 12-1/4"L (13-3/4"L with handle) Black with spoiler (no quick release plate): 15"W at middle x 12-3/4"H x 16-1/2"L overall. Note that there is a picture of the larger one with a red reflective bar around the middle, but it leads to 3 trunks that *don't* include the "red bar" one. How could they even think of discontinuing the KLR after spending several R&D dollars upgrading the shifter for '07? This new 650 is based on their budget sportbike motor (which could have been made into a decent adventure bike), so I doubt Suzuki is involved. Pretty sure that relationship has gone by the wayside. The Versys may not even come to the US. Seems like the KLR will live to play another year...or 10. As of '07, it's old enough to buy beer California. I'm still hoping that Honda could surprises us with a big DS, and the F800GS looks to be a player. __Arden
