Prove it! Let's see the souces you've used to be able to make your statement something more then just heresay. Personally I would find it hard to believe that any testing facility with limited budgets and time, could do the kinds of research that a company like Mobil can expend on developing a use specific oil. Therefore I would question the testing methods being used. Do you know for a fact that MX4T costs more then any other type of Mobil 1 synthetic? You must have overlooked the part where I said that synthetics were not necessary?

maudibbb, Check out these links. I believe they have credibility because they appear very independant (no Amsoil links please). http://www.yft.org/tex_vfr/tech/oil.htm http://www.xs11.com/stories/mcnoil94.htm The Quick

I have a 06' with 2200 miles and have been using Kawa oil 10w-40 since new, now I want to change to a synthetic oil. Either Mobil One or Amsoil. Can anyone give me opinions or advice on the pros and cons of synthetic? Thanks, Bwiser _________________________________________________________________ Don t just search. Find. Hmm, oil you say? We don't get many questions about oil here, so nobody really has much info or opinions on that one. Sorry. -- Doug Herr doug@...

www.bobistheoilguy.com I just joined the list and I don't have a KLR yet (supposed to pick one up tomorrow). I use Mobil1 0w40 on my '04 R6. You'll need Non EC oil or your clutch will slip. -Bobby (different bob)

I use Mobil 1 Extended Wear 10-30 for 4000 miles now with no problems noticed. I thought there might be a problem with clutch slippage but I haven't noticed any. Nelson --- Brian Wise wrote:

Use regular oil and just make believe it's synthetic. You'll never know the difference. ;-) Fred

Be careful of your selection. You might be considered "an insane luddite" if go with regular oil. I have chosen the luddite route, insane or otherwise. Personally, I get a sense of comfort knowing my bike has clean oil in it every two thousand miles. Don Doug Herr wrote:
